Personal background:

Boyd grew up in the North Cove community of McDowell County. He graduated from McDowell High School in 1989. He went on to Forsyth Community College, and then North Carolina State University. Boyd enjoys skiing, golf, and camping with his family. He married the love of his life in 1992, and they have four children. Their home is in North Cove.
