Who grows your food? Many more children today know the answer to that question. One reason more children are tuned in to where their food comes from is the growing farm-to-school movement. This movement has grown by leaps and bounds, from a handful of farm-to-school programs in the mid 1990s to over 42,000 programs in all 50 states today. The farm-to-school movement increases the amount of locally grown food found on school lunch trays, introduces children to the wonders of an edible garden, gets kids cooking in the classroom, trying tasty treats through cafeteria taste tests, and excites children about where their food comes from and who grows it through farm field trips.
