In warm summer months, I seem to have no trouble drinking plenty of water. However, when the temperature turns chilly, I simply don’t feel thirsty. It’s important to remember that we still need to drink enough water to stay hydrated and healthy. It is generally recommended that we drink eight 8-ounce glasses each day. Here are four easy ways to make drinking water a daily habit.
1) Drink a glass of water when you first wake up. This will kick start your metabolism.
2) Fill water bottles with the amount of water you need to drink each day. Keep the bottles where you can see them so that you are reminded throughout the day to take a sip.
3) Drink out of a pretty bottle or glass. It makes drinking more enjoyable.
4) Flavor your water with berries, herbs, or veggies to entice your taste buds.
Remember answering, “Here!” when your teacher called roll call? In our age of emails, texting, and instagramming, we can easily forget how to truly communicate. To stay present and engaged in a conversation, really listen to what someone is saying.
Focus on the conversation by (in a non-obvious way) repeating what the other says. Instead of texting about your day on your way home, save your conversation for when you are actually together. You’ll find that you have more to talk about and enjoy the conversation more.

Hang the bundle behind the faucet as you fill your bath (out of the stream of water). The aroma will fill the room and your senses.

The New Year is the perfect time to begin a new exercise routine. Trying to decide which one may be your biggest dilemma. While most types of exercise increase strength, muscle tone, balance, and flexibility, there are specific benefits to specific forms of exercise. Yoga will help to increase your capacity to manage stress.
Pilates will help you develop a strong core. Ballet improves posture and balance. Ballroom dancing can give you an outlet for social interaction. Boxing improves hand-eye coordination. Tae Kwon Do can improve agility and concentration. Playing pickle-ball is said to increase mood and overall mental health. So, choose a new exercise routine and go for it!
