Are you an investor? You may not think of yourself that way, but even if you only have money invested in an IRA or 401(k), you are an investor. It is tough to be an investor these days, with the media being so hyper-focused on market movements. Some days, the fear mongering that goes on is enough to make a grown woman cry. It is helpful to understand a little of what makes the market tick. Perhaps then you will be less inclined to get caught up in either market fever or market hysteria. There are two types of events that cause the market to move – economic fundamentals and market shocks.
It happens to everyone at some point – more month than there is money. How did this happen? In this day and age, so much of our daily financial life is facilitated by credit. No cash on hand for your latte? No problem, just swipe your card. Then the next thing you know, you pay your monthly bills and you don’t have enough to pay your entire credit card bill. Oops.
