Poetry: Kayaking Lesson on Lake Superior

We go along parallel,
Julie and I,
like two yellow ducks
bobbing
on the holy swells
of the Mother’s bosom,
lightness of being
attained at last.
Now I can die happy.
‘Round and ‘round the cove we speed
baptized again and again
by dripping paddles
world without end amen
