Finding a place or places to sell their products is a key aspect of any farmer’s business. Fortunately, because you demand local food, farmers can now sell year-round at winter farmers markets. Check out these happening around Asheville through early spring:

Dates: Saturdays, January 11-March 29
Location: Inside the Public Works Building at 161 S. Charlotte St. (regular season location)
Time: 10 am-1 pm


Blue Ridge Food Ventures Market*
Dates: Wednesdays, December 11, January 8, February 12, and March 12
Location: Blue Ridge Food Ventures, 1461 Sand Hill Rd., Candler
Time: 9 am-1 pm and 4-7 pm

Flat Rock Tailgate Market*

Henderson County Tailgate Market
Dates: No formal start or end dates, and not a formalized market; some vendors will continue all winter outside
Location: Parking lot at 100 N. King St. (Between First and Second Ave.)
Time: 7 am-12 noon


Jackson County Farmers Market
Dates: Saturdays, November 2 through end of March
Location: Community Table at 23 Central St., Sylva (next to Sylva Pool and Poteet Park)
Time: 9 am-12 noon


Leicester Farmers Market
Dates: First and third Saturdays, January-March
Location: Parking lot of Leicester Landing Shopping Center, 338 Leicester Hwy.
Time: 10 am-2 pm


Woodfin YMCA Winter Indoor Tailgate Market
Dates: Saturdays, January 4 until regular markets open in spring
Location: Buildings 51 and 41 at the Lofts Reynolds Village, 51 N. Merrimon Ave. (adjacent to Woodfin YMCA). On warmer mornings, the market will be held outside adjacent to the YMCA.
Time: 10 am-12:30 pm


Spruce Pine Farmers Market
Dates: Wednesdays, December-April
Location: In the parking lot of the Pizza Shop and Dry County Brewing, 585 Oak Ave., Spruce Pine
Time: 2-5 pm


Yancey County Farmers Market
Dates: Saturdays; not a formalized market, some vendors will continue all winter outside
Location: Burnsville Town Center, S. Main St. at US 19E
