Bravo for WNC Woman! I eagerly anticipate each issue. It’s so well-written. I learn so much about so many topics, all with a local orientation. I marvel that you’ve kept this a free magazine since 2002. Just want you to know how much I enjoy, admire and value your publication.
We recently bought a place in NC and picked up your publication at the local library. I enjoy reading it very much, but I was dismayed to read the misuse of a word in the headline on page 20 (Sept issue). The writer used the word “compliments” instead of “complements.”
As you must know, there is a big difference! This misuse takes away from the writer’s story by making her look as if she does not know the English language. I take writing seriously as I work with students who are at risk of failing. It is our responsibility as writers to use language correctly. I read the writer’s bio and she should know the difference and if not look it up.
Thank you for allowing me to give you feedback on your publication. As I said, I do enjoy it and appreciate the stories that you cover.
