Words From The Editor

My introduction to this month’s issue will be short because I thought it much more interesting and important to include all these Letters this month … I love to get letters so I know what readers are thinking, what they like and don’t like or think the magazine lacks.

As I started collecting submissions for this month’s theme: the Glass Ceiling; is it still there?, I was interested to see that there are SO many women who have moved beyond many imposed limitations (we had scheduled a profile of Chancellor Anne Ponder of UNC-A but that had to be postponed to a future issue due to scheduling conflicts). Yet, as Annie Long (Letters to the Editor) so poignantly puts it, there is still so much to do to enable women to walk alone at night or feel safe in their own home, for instance, without fearing attack.

WNC Woman offers kudos and admiraton to the individuals and organizations that address this problem daily. Thank you for supporting women in bettering their lives and society.

Read on about women, young and of a certain age, who are breaking through and moving beyond.

Oops2Wow, did I make a BIG goof last month. I printed the wrong, incomplete, version of Laura Rand’s article on Chronic Healing. My aplogies to Laura and to you readers for such an oversight. Keep an eye out in a future issue for the real, complete story of her life of healing.
