We’ve Got Mail

We love to hear from our readers! Email us at editors@archives.wncwoman.com.

We all work really hard at WNC Woman to nurture our WNC and beyond communities. The June issue gave us an opportunity not only to share the amazing work of Eustace Conway at Turtle Island Preserve, but to alert our readers to the issues threatening not only TI but all independent outdoor educational facilities in our state.

We reported that two legislators had stepped up to write a bill to create greater clarity for these facilities, to provide them with the freedom to develop amazing and safe programs for youth and adults in the lifestyle of our forefathers. By the time we went to press, we were able to report that the bill had UNANIMOUSLY passed the State House, and moved forward to the Senate where it was again UNANIMOUSLY passed. (We know that our reporting to all of you concerned citizens, who jumped on the bandwagon of speaking up to State Senators helped to make this happen.) On June 12, Bill 774 was signed into law by the Governor.

This is great news for so many in our state, especially Turtle Island. Eustace thanks every one for responding and honoring his request, “Prayers are more that welcome;” they provided that extra push. Thank you from everyone at Turtle Island and from all of us at WNC Woman. Aho

PS: I think this was one of the best issues I have read. Thanks Sandi for all your hard work and Linda, always behind-the-scenes, you ladies move mountains.
