Meet Our Advertisers: Paul Marks Acupuncture
By Paul Marks
Have you ever asked yourself: “Is this all there is?” “Is anything missing in my life?“ ”Are there changes I could
make that would bring me more joy, more self-love, more happiness?”
Something simple can be so pleasing and fulfilling. We are all so focused on making inner changes to bring us more joy, more love, more peace and happiness. What is it that I really want? We all have desires … face it, we are all human. So what are the outer changes you’d like to see, changes that will contribute to your well-being?
What is the first thing people see when you meet them? Yes, you’re right! Your face. As we age we become more aware of the changes in our bodies and especially our faces. Our faces, like our eyes, are the doorways to our soul. Did you know that it takes far fewer muscles to smile than to frown. Those that smile often live longer, healthier lives. What would it feel like to see a beautiful and happy face looking back at you in the mirror, or hear a very pleasing comment from a friend that you haven’t seen for a while?
Did you know that Energy Light Rejuvenation is the future of skincare technology? With a history of ancient traditions as a foundation for inner and outer beauty you can benefit from a one-of-a-kind treatment to meet your individual needs. Energy Light Rejuvenation or ELR combines Microcurrent with Therapeutic Light and Color. Developed by Dr. Darren Starwyn on the principles of Chinese medicine, Energy Light Rejuvenation works in harmony with the natural energy systems of the body.
The tiredness will fade away and a vibrant color will return as not only your face is rejuvenating but your whole body. You see, we are all beings of light and energy and as our vibration is ignited with more life force our body naturally responds in a very natural and gentle process. I have seen it many, many times. I have been practicing Acupuncture for over 25 years and ELR for over 12 years.
We all have the ability to create and manifest what we want. Why not start with what is so priceless, YOU!
My name is Paul Marks and I was raised in a feminist home. My Mother, Suzanne, marched with Gloria Steinem in Washington, D. C. in the fight for women’s rights. In 1972 she became a single mother to me and my sister Melinda. She moved us to California to gain more opportunity to raise her family. I have grown up honoring and respecting women for their ability and tenaciousness in living full, self-realized lives.
While living in California, I attended Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena and lived the California life, spending
many days driving through the Canyons on my motorcycle. I fell in love with the mountains and the beauty of the landscape. After graduation, I moved back to the East Coast and lived in Boston where I studied Acupuncture at the New
England School of Acupuncture.
After graduation I moved to Maine where I had a thriving practice. When it was time to leave, I knew I wanted to live in a place where I could breathe fresh air, hike, hear music and be part of a community that offered me the same values of community and friendship that are so dear to my heart.
I moved to Asheville a year and a half ago from Maine and opened my Acupuncture practice on Chestnut Street, a block or so from Whole Foods Market. You might see me shopping and/or eating my lunch there most days.
I offer traditional acupuncture treatments as well as ELR and other modalities.
I love the comment that one of my patients relates. She tells me each week as she is on the table that I can leave the room. Just lying there on the table, feeling the heat from the pad beneath her back and the warmth from the lamp above her stomach and listening to the soothing music and seeing the seafoam green of the walls, she feels better immediately! Of course, after her treatment, she feels even better.
I have been practicing and teaching Qi Gong for over 8 years. For those new to Qi Gong, it is a gentle form of body movements similar to Tai Chi but is, I feel, easier to learn. It is very therapeutic and very healing for the whole body. Some describe it as acupuncture without needles. This past summer I was invited to teach Qi Gong at an International Summer School on the Hudson River in New York; we had over 70 students a day for the week. For many of the participants it was their first time and they found it to be so energizing.
Qi Gong has been practiced in China for thousands of years and many hospitals incorporate as part of their cancer therapies. I have taught here in Asheville at Jubillee! and in Brunswick Maine and also privately.
My office is at 30 Chestnut St. in Asheville, and I have an office in Shelby where I also see patients and do facial rejuvenation. Contact me at 828-505-8377 or visit my website.
