Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal provides a calorie counter, a searchable food database of over 1,000,000 foods and a personalized diet profile. This app supports a variety of specialized diets such as Atkins, South Beach, and the Zone. You can even connect with the online community and get support. One tester said, “I can’t believe this app is free, I would have paid for it!”
Fitness Pro offers a collection of more than 450 categorized and searchable exercises. Fitness Pro helps you create and maintain a customized weekly workout routine and its advanced logging system tracks your progress. This app’s Log and Map run function allows you to log and track your run during your workout and share it with friends on Facebook and Twitter so they can cheer you on.
Lose It enables you to set goals, establish a daily calorie limit, and record your daily calorie intake and exercise. The app features a complete database of foods listing the calorie and fat content information for each and you can add foods to the database that aren’t already included. Tammy Karasek is a fan of Lose it and says, “My daughter and I use Lose It all the time. We both like it to meet our weight loss goals.”
Tackle Organization
Evernote allows you to stay in sync between your computer, online and your phone. Type a note, clip a webpage, snap a photo, or save a screenshot. Evernote organizes your notes into searchable categories. Entrepreneur and mom, Laura Morgan says, “Evernote is my new best friend. I’m using it in some way in just about every aspect of my life now.” Plan your next trip, make your to-do-list, remember contact information, or leave a voice memo for yourself.
Dropbox permits you to share your files, photos, and videos with your mobile phone and other computers. You can even save files on the Dropbox website in case your computer crashes. Professional writer, Rachelle Rea uses Drop Box to save her work. “I’m paranoid my computer will crash and I’ll lose everything, but I know everything is safe when I use Dropbox.” Katie O’Mailia, a mom and paralegal, says, “Dropbox is great to put documents in so you can access them wherever you are.”
Find My iPhone For those of us who constantly lose things Find My iPhone is a lifesaver. This app does just what it says. No more searching frantically through your purse, under the bed, and in your car, just log onto Signintome.com and a map will display the location of your misplaced iPhone.
Manage Your Money
Mint.com Personal Finance allows you to track, budget and manage your money on-the-go. Want to buy a Starbucks latte but don’t want to go over budget? Just use your Mint.com app to check your account balance. This app automatically updates and categorizes your spending each night. You can set up email or text message alerts to help you avoid fees or warn you when you’re going over budget. You will also receive a weekly report summarizing your spending and saving. Beth Ingersoll says, “I use Mint.com every day to better manage my money.”
Red Laser permits you to scan barcodes and compare in store and online prices to find the best deal. Use RedLaser to check food products, to view allergen information and nutritional facts. You can also scan most books and RedLaser will find a copy of it in a nearby library and online. Red Laser would be perfect for making upcoming birthday wish lists, simply scan the item’s barcode and RedLaser will email the items to your inbox to check out later.
Coupon Sherpa offers both in-store coupons as well as select deals just for users. Completely customizable, Coupon Sherpa allows you to search by category or store name, locate merchants closest to you, filter out deals you’ll never use, and even allows you to e-mail coupons to your friends. No more paying full price for lunch, use the app’s GPS to locate coupons for restaurants near you. So don’t waste your time and ink clipping coupons, save them on your iPhone.
